About

Harbor is seeking a highly skilled Senior Director of Brand, Digital and Communications to oversee the execution and continuous evolution of our brand, digital presence, and internal and external communications strategy. This role requires a leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, ensuring the Company's brand is consistent, compelling, and impactful across all channels - digital, internal, and external - while aligning communications with the business strategy.

As a key member of the marketing leadership team, the Senior Director will drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment rolling up their sleeves to oversee digital initiatives, optimize communications, and ensure flawless execution. This leader will collaborate across departments, guide a small in-house team, and manage external partners to deliver measurable outcomes aligned with business priorities.

This is a fully-remote position that can be worked anywhere in Canada.


Key Responsibilities:

Brand Strategy & Integrity

  • Steward and evolve the company's brand vision, positioning, and identity.
  • Oversee brand architecture (corporate brand sub-brands/products). As part of brand architecture, work closely with product and legal teams to develop and execute trademark strategy for company and company solution suites/products.
  • Oversee brand execution, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity with brand strategy across all channels.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce brand guidelines, templates, and tools for internal and external company-wide use.
  • Monitor day-to-day brand representation and address gaps swiftly.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and visuals across all touchpoints (web, social, campaigns, PR).
  • Monitor brand health metrics and market perception.
  • Ensure brand and communications strategies align with compliance, ethics, and regulations.
  • Manage reputation risk, especially in crises or sensitive issues.

Web & Digital Strategy

  • Drive digital engagement strategies to reach customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Lead the ongoing management, optimization, and enhancement of Harbor's website for performance, SEO, and AIEO.
  • Introduce innovations in customer experience (CX), personalization, and digital storytelling.
  • Ensure digital strategies are implemented on schedule and deliver measurable results.
  • Oversee organic social media channels, ensuring timely and relevant content delivery.
  • Manage analytics and reporting to manage performance and track effectiveness, adjusting tactics as needed.

Thought Leadership, PR & Communications

  • Oversee internal and external communications strategies.
  • Execute Harbor's thought leadership, ensuring timely delivery of content, press releases, and media engagement.
  • Partner with executives to prepare for media, speaking, and editorial opportunities.
  • Manage internal communications to ensure clarity, alignment, and consistency in messaging.
  • Oversee content creation from Sounding Boards, Surveys, events etc. and ensure output aligns with Harbor's positioning and goals.
  • Build consistent narratives for investors, customers, regulators, and employees.
  • Partner with HR for employer branding and culture communications.

Vendor & Agency Management

  • Oversee day-to-day work of agencies and external vendors, ensuring deliverables meet deadlines, budgets, and brand standards.
  • Coordinate across multiple partners, resolving executional challenges quickly.
  • Track performance against KPIs and continuously improve vendor output.

Oversight & Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the C-Suite and business units.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Provide clear direction, deadlines, and accountability across the marketing team and external partners, making efficient use of retainers and other external agreements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure marketing programs are executed seamlessly and effectively.
  • Represent Harbor as a brand ambassador internally and externally, leading by example in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Establish strong content governance across global/local markets.

M&A and Integration

  • Evaluate the target company's brand equity, positioning, and market perception and identify overlaps, conflicts, or gaps with the acquiring company's brand.
  • Identify key customers, partners, and media relationships that will need careful management.
  • Prepare announcements, press releases, talking points and toolkits, brand guidelines for transition for all audiences at target company and Harbor
  • Ensure integration execution including refreshing value propositions to reflect the combined company's strengths, digital integration, and campaign harmonization.
  • Preparation and oversight for internal marketing communications
  • Ensure post-integration monitoring and feedback loops
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field required.
  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in brand management, digital strategy, and corporate communications.
  • Proven leadership experience within a high-growth or global organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and evolving brand architectures and managing sub-brands/products.
  • Experience managing integrated communications strategies (internal and external).
  • Prior experience overseeing web/digital platforms, SEO, analytics, and performance optimization.
  • Experience handling crisis communications and managing corporate reputation risk.
  • Background in M&A branding and post-acquisition brand integration preferred.
  • Deep understanding of brand strategy, positioning, and identity systems.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management capabilities, able to balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution.
  • Proficiency in storytelling, content strategy, and multi-channel campaign execution.
  • Knowledge of trademark strategy and brand compliance requirements.
  • Ability to develop and monitor brand health metrics and performance KPIs.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills — able to lead a high-performing cross-functional team.
  • Experience managing external agencies, vendors, and partners to ensure quality and budget adherence.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and proven ability to influence C-suite executives and collaborate across departments.
  • Adept at change management, particularly in M&A or brand transformation contexts.
  • Ability to lead with clarity and confidence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft compelling narratives for multiple audiences (investors, clients, employees).
