Job Summary:
We are hiring a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and preparing shipments for departure. This includes verifying shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring all packages are accurately labeled and tracked. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be crucial in maintaining efficient shipping operations and minimizing errors. Responsibilities:
  • Processing outgoing shipments and verifying shipping documents.
  • Coordinating with freight carriers and scheduling pickups.
  • Ensuring accurate labeling and tracking of all packages.
  • Preparing bills of lading and other shipping paperwork.
  • Communicating with internal departments and external partners regarding shipments.
  • Maintaining organized shipping records and files.
  • Inspecting packages for damage before shipment.
  • Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of PPE.
  • Assisting with inventory control and receiving as needed.
  • Troubleshooting shipping discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business or logistics is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/logistics role.
  • Proficiency in shipping software and online tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with lifting requirements for packages and safe handling practices.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the necessity of PPE.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

This position requires the ability to handle various shipping documents and to work within a logistics environment that may involve some lifting. Safety is paramount, and all employees are expected to follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Your role contributes to the seamless flow of goods.
