Join our bustling distribution center in Washington, D.C. as a skilled Forklift Operator. We are looking for experienced and safety-conscious individuals to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. Your role is vital in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods within our warehouse. The ideal candidate will possess a valid forklift certification, a proven track record of safe operation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment. We emphasize adherence to all safety regulations and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires physical stamina and a keen eye for detail to prevent damage to products and ensure operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trucks and containers with accuracy and care.
- Stack and store materials in designated areas, ensuring stability and proper placement.
- Conduct daily inspections of forklift equipment, reporting any issues or necessary maintenance.
- Pick and stage orders for shipment according to schedules and priorities.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of obstructions.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
- Adhere to all company policies and operational protocols.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely order fulfillment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe forklift operating practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain operations is beneficial.
