About
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic for a new and exciting service line we are adding to our farming operations. Qualified candidate is willing to maintain, diagnose, repair and overhaul diesel engines, hydraulics, drive trains, and chassis systems on agricultural equipment, heavy implements, and support vehicles. Qualifications include certifications from Cummins and Caterpillar, or ability to obtain them, but we are also open to training the right candidate who has strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. This is a full-time, salaried position based in the shop with field service work as needed (mileage/expense reimbursed when applicable).
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, emissions/DEF systems, hydraulics, drive trains, tracks/wheels.
* Perform regular preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and warranty work.
* Work on implements and support equipment (ag-tractors, heavy implements, support trucks).
* Maintain clean, organized shop and service area; ensure safe work practices.
* Keep accurate job records, parts usage, labor time, and report service notes.
* Communicate clearly with other employees, owners, and customers regarding work progress, cost/parts, and downtime.
* Optional/Preferred: Acquire and maintain Cummins and Cat certifications; remain current on latest diagnostics and software.
*Qualifications:*
* Minimum of 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred (agricultural, heavy equipment, trucking, or implement service preferred).
* Prefer someone with diesel OEM certifications (Cummins, Cat) or willing to obtain them.
* Strong diagnostics skills (electrical, hydraulics, diesel engine/fuel/emissions).
* Ability to work independently and in the field when necessary.
* Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel locally for field service.
* Willingness to occasionally work overtime during peak seasons (planting, harvest) as needed.
* Excellent communication skills, teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
*Compensation & Benefits:*
*Salary Range:* $55,000 / year - $68,0000/year depending on experience
*Incentives:* In addition to the base, optional incentives may be negotiated with management for performance metrics.
Additional Benefits: tool allowance + continuing training/support for OEM certifications.
*Work Schedule:* Monday–Friday standard shop hours; occasional early mornings or weekend standby during peak season.
*Location:* Based in Sedgwick County Colorado County with occasional field service in surrounding region (travel reimbursed).
