Summary

Our Finance team is growing. We are looking for an experienced Accountant to be an integral part of our Finance team.  This role is responsible for performing full-cycle accounting support including reporting, year-end working papers, month-end entries, account reconciliations and ad hoc analysis and reporting.

In addition to exceptional accounting skills, we require a self-motivated individual with an aptitude for learning and growth.  Your experience in accounting, combined with strong attention to detail, will make you an asset to the team, and a valued contributor to our philosophy of professional excellence in our industry.

Primary Responsibilities

You will be accountable for Financial Accounting activities, including:

1. Financial Reporting and General Ledger Management

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all legal entities, including a consolidated statement in accordance with GAAP and industry practice.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring proper coding, classification, and adherence to accounting and industry standards.
  • Support the Assistant Controller in financial reporting as required.

2. Financial Accounting

  • Develop and maintain periodic account reconciliations for selected account balances.
  • Prepare year-end working papers for multiple companies.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Manage supplier credit applications.

3. Construction and Development Accounting Support

4. Other Duties

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits.
  • Provide accounting assistance as required.

About You

You have received education through a recognized certificate bookkeeping program and have a minimum of 5 years' accounts payable or general accounting experience.

Your skills & abilities include:

  • Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting procedures and general accounting principles.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and accounting software. Spectra knowledge an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Windows and Office. Ability to learn new computer programs quickly and easily. 
  • A proactive self-starter who is efficient and detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Able to work and learn independently, but also be a team player with strong interpersonal skills who works effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to accuracy and detail; and
  • Proven ability to problem-solve, make decisions and exercise good judgment.
