Job Description Summary This Senior Data Analyst position will engage in general institutional research with a focus on information related to student and faculty experiences and outcomes. Consideration will be given to candidates with excellent problem-solving skills, significant technical skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work with others collaboratively. The successful candidate must be able to think strategically, develop creative solutions, create and maintain complex data environments, develop novel descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, and, most importantly, help the community make meaning from these analyses. Job Responsibilities Respond to internal and external requests for data, information, and analyses by preparing and submitting a variety of regular and ad hoc reports. Design, integrate, and maintain complex data environments by combining multiple internal and external sources, embedding reusable intelligence informed by content expertise, and ensuring data quality, consistency, and scalability for advanced analytics and reporting. Produce novel descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including the preparation of well-designed communications in the form of reports and/or presentations of analytical findings in narrative and graphical formats. Design studies and instruments to assess institutional activities, initiatives, and programs, including conducting literature reviews, benchmarking against best practices, and testing for validity and reliability to ensure actionable outcomes. Create and optimize efficient, repeatable processes to proactively respond to all ongoing and/or recurring requests for data, information, and analyses, and identify opportunities for innovation in analytic approaches and data management practices. Provide detailed and organized documentation for all assigned projects to ensure transparency and reproducibility. Serve as a liaison with internal IT units and external vendors and/or manage technical environments to ensure systems supporting research and analysis are optimally configured, secure, and aligned with institutional needs. Represent IR&A on university committees and task forces, contributing institutional research expertise to strategic discussions and engaging stakeholders to clarify needs and provide actionable insights. Other duties as assigned to advance institutional research and analysis objectives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 4 to 6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Master's degree strongly preferred; background and experience should emphasize quantitative skills and research methods (e.g., Statistics, Social Science, Mathematics, etc.) Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills Experience creating complex data sets from multiple internal and external data sources Ability to produce descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistical analyses Advanced proficiency in programmable statistical analysis software (Base SAS, R, SPSS syntax, STATA, etc.); SAS preferred Experience with one or more data visualization software packages (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft BI, Qlik, etc.); Tableau preferred Familiarity with relational databases, data management, and SQL Quantitative skills are a must; however, the capacity to engage in qualitative research is also highly valued Demonstrated ability and desire to acquire new knowledge and skills independently Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (ability to relay complex statistical results in an organized and easily understandable fashion) Excellent organizational skills, including keen orientation to detail and deadlines, as well as the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to handle confidential materials professionally and to utilize discretion in releasing confidential information Commitment to maintaining accurate and detailed records and documentation Experience working with the student or employee information systems (Banner and/or Workday especially helpful) Job Location - City, State Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department / School President's Center Pay Range $83,500.00 - $122,700.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
