SUMMARY OF POSITION
Reporting to the General Manager, the Lead Bartender is a professional, experienced and knowledgeable beverage professional who will oversee all areas of the bar and lead the beverage program within the guest dining experience. The responsibilities of the Lead Bartender include supervising beverage serving, collaborating with the rest of the beverage team, and maintaining the health of the beverage program. A successful Lead Bartender will have a polished appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Responsible for correctly receiving new beverages in accordance with receiving SOP under the General Manager's direction.
- Welcome customers, assess customer needs and preferences, make recommendations and take food and beverage orders. Stay focused on the guest experience.
- Provide leadership in knowledge of the menu, beverage list, and food served.
- Assist in development of drink menus and inform customers about new beverages.
- Prepare all alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons. Mix ingredients to prepare consistent, quality cocktails.
- Maintain a clean work area by removing trash, cleaning the bar, wash glasses, utensils, and equipment. Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
- Maintain sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
- Ensure consistent, thorough, and timely communication with subordinates, peers, managers, guests and vendors.
- Understand and implement all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs including age verification of all guests.
- Prepare training programs, materials and tastings for staff education
- Support of ensuring accuracy of monthly inventory reports by accurate counting and variance investigations with the General Manager.
- Ownership of the bar's organization and oversight by the whole team
- Embody the company's culture and translate this culture into the overall team
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of beverage experience in a fine dining or elevated bar atmosphere.
- Extensive knowledge pertaining to all aspects of beverage programs and bar operations
- Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
- Does high-quality work while unsupervised.
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple orders during peak hours effectively
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations related to food handling in the bar environment.
- Able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food when necessary.
- Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Excellent financial acumen, math skills and computer proficiency.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours based on business
