About
We are looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our busy warehouse in Detroit, Michigan. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the movement of materials throughout the facility, ensuring that goods are stored, organized, and transported efficiently and safely. This includes operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, as well as loading and unloading trucks. You will play a key part in maintaining an organized warehouse environment and supporting the logistics flow of products. A strong understanding of warehouse operations, a commitment to safety, and the ability to handle physical tasks are essential. You must be proficient in using various types of equipment and adhere to all safety regulations, including the correct use of PPE. This position demands a proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Your role is vital to our operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
- Stack and organize materials in a safe and orderly manner.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring clear pathways.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Wear appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses and gloves, as required.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any maintenance issues.
- Support shipping and receiving operations as needed.
- Must be able to perform frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 60 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in operating various types of warehouse equipment.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and logistics.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and able to work independently.
