Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions' to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. We are looking to hire an Electrical Hardware Engineer to provide support to various ship programs for the US Navy. This position is for DDG51 Machinery Control Systems (MCS) Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) Electrical and Computer Engineer for the LBES Integration (LBESi) team. The main function of the candidate will be to provide lifecycle support of fielded and future LBESi equipment at DDG-51 LBES needed to configure, monitor, and test DDG51 MCS Software. This includes managing all onsite installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance of LBESi equipment in an industrial environment. This is an onsite position with limited possibilities for remote work. Responsibilities will include: Lifecycle support of LBES configuration and Test Tools which includes, but is not limited to: Provide service and customer support for equipment including but not limited to PLCs, VME, PXI, microcontrollers, network switches, and software applications. Observing and testing machinery equipment operation in order to diagnose malfunctions. Troubleshoot technical problems, identify possible solutions, and implement recommended mitigations in a timely manner. Analyzing test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems. Solving complex problems with clear analytical thought, taking into account multiple factors and tradeoffs. Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of current and future systems. Communicating with subject matter experts as needed. Support the design, development, and implementation of new requirements and/or test tools including but not limited to: Participating in Requirements Development and Design Reviews of next generation Test Tools. Rapid development of prototype Test Tools to facilitate design decisions. Modification of existing configuration, simulators, and hardware to support new MCS software testing requirements. Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment. Lead and manage all LBESi test activities including software and hardware verification and validation. Provide timely feedback to Team Leads, Program Managers, Lead System Engineer (LSE), and Supervisor of equipment status and mitigation plans. Identify deficiencies and improvements for LBES equipment utilized for plant monitoring/configuration and MCS testing. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Technology degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience; or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent engineering degree with 1+ years of relevant work experience; or equivalent work experience of 9 years. Active government DoD Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one. US Citizenship is required. Physical Requirements: Lift and carry (with assistance) up to 50 pounds Access and maintain equipment located in confined spaces Ascend/descend ramps/ladders/stairs and work comfortably at varying heights Reach overhead to handle, install, position and move materials Perform routine maintenance tasks while crouching, stooping and kneeling Work in environments with temperature fluctuations, including both hot and cold conditions Sustain physical activity for extended periods, as well as maintaining balance See details at close range, at a distance and from side to side Detect alarms and respond to auditory signals effectively is requirement Desired Qualifications: Experience in electrical or computer engineering as it pertains to control systems in an industrial environment highly desired. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and Visio) Proficiency reading and updating wiring diagrams and schematics. Proficient with tools such as Multi-Meters, Oscilloscopes, and Signal Generators. Proven ability to work independently using sound judgement and initiative; and collectively within a team environment. Knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and theories. Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware systems. Basic Technical writing ability Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise confidently and professionally with a diverse range of people Sound analytical skills with an eye for detail; good problem solving ability and a practical approach. Effective time management skills Proficiency analyzing information and determining a course of action Ability to learn/adapt quickly to different technologies Basic knowledge of IP network troubleshooting. Comfortability working in an industrial environment.
