A little about our EarlyON Child and Family Centre 

The Mothercraft EarlyON Child and Family Centre provides opportunities for children from birth to 6 years of age to participate in play and inquiry-based programs, and supports parents and caregivers in their roles. It offers safe and welcoming environments open to all families. Families and caregivers will be able to find support, advice, make personal connections, and access a network of resources. 

Job Summary 

As our newest Early Childhood Assistant , you will play a crucial role in shaping the minds of young children and delivering early learning and family support programs to families and young children. You will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn and grow and assisting the program with administrative support.

Your passion for early childhood education and ability to connect with both children and parents on their level will be instrumental in fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere. As an Early Childhood Assistant, you will...

  • Support and assist with implementing play-based learning opportunities to promote stimulation in all areas of development by using the ELECT framework
  • Assist and support routines, transitions, room arrangements, and activities to support social/emotional development
  • Demonstrate understanding of development, learning, and child development theories and how they connect to developmentally appropriate day-to-day practice
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners
  • Provide administrative support for the EarlyON program, including welcoming families, conducting outreach, handling inquiries, and assisting with KeyON registration, calendar management, Mailchimp campaigns, and other related tasks

Regular evening (Wednesday) and weekend (Saturday) work and travel program locations in Toronto is required.

You will be set up for success if you
have… 

  • Completion of a Community College Certificate/Diploma, Early Childhood Assistant Diploma an asset
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children aged 0-6 years years preferred
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, filing, record keeping, and basic office management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Standard First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check
  • Immunizations and health assessment in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act
