Our busy logistics hub in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator. This position is essential for maintaining the smooth flow of materials within our distribution center. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a forklift to move, load, unload, and stack goods. Precision and a strong awareness of safety protocols are critical. You will be expected to perform daily equipment checks and maintain a clean and organized work area. Adherence to all company safety standards, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is paramount. This role requires a certified forklift operator with proven experience in a high-volume warehouse environment. The job involves maneuvering heavy loads, and requires physical dexterity and focus. Understanding the intricacies of warehouse logistics and inventory management is beneficial. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload delivery trucks and trailers.
- Transport inventory to and from designated warehouse locations.
- Perform pre-operational checks on forklifts and report any maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and inventory status.
- Ensure warehouse aisles and loading docks are kept clear and organized.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
- Follow all instructions from supervisors to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- This role may involve occasional heavy lifting up to 70 pounds.
- Collaborate effectively with other team members to achieve operational targets.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing.
- Commitment to wearing all required PPE.
- Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Experience in a fast-paced logistics environment is highly desirable.
