Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Inventory Control Specialist to join our busy New York City warehouse operations. This pivotal role ensures the accuracy and integrity of our inventory, optimizing stock levels and minimizing discrepancies. The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible for implementing robust inventory management strategies, conducting audits, managing stock movements, and leveraging our Warehouse Management System (WMS). A keen analytical mind, a dedication to process improvement, and a thorough understanding of logistics are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the accuracy of inventory data within the WMS.
  • Plan and execute cycle counts and full physical inventories.
  • Investigate and resolve all inventory discrepancies promptly.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control procedures and policies.
  • Monitor stock levels, identify potential shortages or excesses, and recommend actions.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO) and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams (receiving, picking, shipping) to ensure accurate material flow.
  • Oversee the organization and storage of inventory to maximize space utilization and accessibility.
  • Develop and maintain reports on inventory accuracy, turns, and other key performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • May involve light lifting of inventory items (up to 25 lbs) for audits or repositioning.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory control within a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Expertise with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory management software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory control principles, best practices, and logistics operations.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and the importance of PPE.
