IT Support Engineer (1st/2nd Line) — Manufacturing & Office Environment
*Salary:* £30,000 - £35,000 pa
Want a hands-on IT role where you’re not just closing tickets—you’re keeping a whole site running? We’re looking for an *IT Support Engineer* to deliver solid *1st and 2nd line support* across a busy *manufacturing + office* environment, working closely with the *IT Manager, and wider IT team*.
What you’ll be doing
* Owning *1st/2nd line support* onsite and remotely (phone/email/remote access)
* Logging, updating and resolving tickets via the *IT helpdesk system*
* Diagnosing and fixing *hardware/software/network/peripheral* issues
* Building, installing and maintaining *PCs, laptops, mobiles, printers and peripherals*
* Supporting a Microsoft stack: *Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Office apps*
* Helping monitor/maintain *networks, servers and business systems*
* Keeping endpoints safe: *AV/endpoint protection, patching, security updates*
* Maintaining quality documentation and an accurate *IT asset register*
* Supporting rollouts, upgrades and *IT projects* (you’ll get variety)
* Escalating complex issues appropriately—and learning from the seniors around you
* Providing *out-of-hours support* when required
Tech you’ll touch (and get better at)
* Windows endpoints, imaging/builds, user support
* *Microsoft 365* and *Active Directory*
* Networking fundamentals: *TCP/IP, VLANs, switches*
* Ticketing/helpdesk workflows, asset management, documentation
What we’re looking for
*Must-have*
* Genuine interest in IT (you like solving problems, not just “following steps”)
* Good working knowledge of *hardware, operating systems, and business apps*
* Solid troubleshooting mindset: logical, methodical, calm under pressure
* Strong people skills—able to support users with mixed confidence/ability
* Organised, professional, customer-focused approach
*Nice-to-have*
* Experience in a *manufacturing/industrial* environment
* Ticketing/helpdesk system experience
* Any exposure to *M365 admin*
Qualifications
* Minimum *5 GCSEs (A–C / 9–4)* including English & Maths
* *Level 3 IT qualification* (BTEC/NVQ or equivalent) _or_ practical experience
