The Role Proofpoint is seeking a dynamic Sales Engineering (SE) Manager to develop a successful Commercial franchise in partnership with Regional Sales leaders working across EMEA. You will lead and develop a team of talented sales engineers predominantly based out of the UK, with the key objectives of building pipeline, winning new and add‑on business and developing happy customers on our Human‑centric security platform. You will be a major contributor to our growth plans and should ideally be located in Reading or London.
Your day‑to‑day
Partner closely with the Regional Sales leaders and Senior team members to build a strategy for growth and execute on it.
Accountability for technical sales and satisfaction activities in your Commercial team, including formulating strategies to penetrate target accounts and expanding existing customers.
Engaged with customers, including evangelizing the Proofpoint vision at all levels, from technical to C‑suite executives.
Help attract, hire and retain top talent to support our rapid growth, including developing and mentoring team members to help them achieve their career goals, ideally here at Proofpoint.
Coach, enable, and develop a team of elite Sales Engineers in the key areas of Product and Technical Expertise, owning the Technical Sales Process, Valued Solutions that Deliver Outcomes and behaving as a Trusted Advisor.
Foster a culture of continual learning, information sharing and collaboration amongst the team to keep all team members current on the latest innovations and build wisdom from recent customer engagements.
Actively collaborate with key internal stakeholders such as product, channel, customer success, marketing, services and support to build pipeline and ensure customer loyalty.
Engage and sponsor key local channel partners that support your business.
Encourage, initiate and execute local initiatives to grow the business.
Occasional travel to meet customers and partners.
What you bring to the team
Leadership & initiative – a motivated self‑starter brimming with ideas, with the discipline and drive to execute on them to yield the desired outcomes.
A mature technically astute but business centric engineer with a proven ability to command a room, guide complex technical and business conversations with C‑suite executives, as well as technical staff.
A commercially savvy technical sales leader who can partner effectively with sales leadership to develop and grow the business.
Some previous experience of managing or leading a sales engineering team (ideally in the cyber‑security industry) is desirable.
Ideally a track record of mentoring and developing team members and guiding them to success is preferred.
A collaborator with internal and external stakeholders, with a willingness to actively engage in discovering opportunities and problem solving at a technical level.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, with high‑energy and a can‑do attitude.
Fluency in English language is required, and any additional languages are a plus.
Nice to have Hands on experience with any of the following:
Directory Services and protocols such as Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, iDP (identity providers).
Email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
Networking and protocols such as DNS, LDAP, HTTP.
Experience with security standards and frameworks such as ISO, MITRE and/or NIST.

CISSP, CCSP or other industry certification is beneficial.
