We are seeking an exceptional engineer with a background in large scale software development and delivery in hyper-scale distributed computing environments. You will work within cybersecurity software engineering team that drives Apache Spark’s state-of-the art features and pushes the boundaries of what is possible in our industry.
Description Apple is seeking an extraordinary individual to work on a team supporting and developing platform services which underpin mission critical information security capabilities. Apache Spark expertise or equivalent is a prerequisite. The ideal candidate is deeply technical, hands‑on, and has enough experience with OSS software to understand when and how to contribute as needed. While previous experience in information security is not required, a sincere drive for security and privacy is required. This role will work closely with our engineering teams and with partner teams to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of product objectives. The successful candidate will have a passion for technical excellence and team collaboration with a heavy focus on automation, scalability, and reliability for all layers of the stack. This role will work closely with developers and users of our platforms to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of product objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of large data platforms, e.g. Apache Spark Structured Streaming or Apache Lucene internals
Demonstrated track record delivering results in a strongly team-oriented environment
Proven track record of shipping high performance and high quality services: JVM languages (Scala and Java preferred), Golang, or Swift
Demonstrated proficiency with data modeling, data lake, lakehouse, and/or data warehousing
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with cloud compute environments like OpenStack, AWS, and GCP
Expertise in writing high-quality code, tests, CI/CD, documentation, and production services
Proficiency with Golang and Python
Relational Databases and SQL
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
