OVERVIEW: DeSales University, in Center Valley, PA, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts Salesian Catholic university, under the leadership of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales. Founded in 1965, the 550‑acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles southwest of New York City. With a total enrollment of nearly 3,500, the university includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 135 full‑time faculty members and offers more than 40 bachelor’s degrees, twelve graduate programs, and over 20 certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines; many of these can be completed fully online. In 2024, the University transitioned to a new academic structure featuring a four‑college/school model, which includes the Kathleen Waterbury and J.B. Reilly School of Business; the College of Arts, Education, and Humanities with a School of Education and a School of Performing Arts; the College of Sciences; and the College of Healthcare Professions with a designated School of Nursing.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Information Officer (CIO) & AVP for Information Technology provides strategic leadership, vision, and management for the University’s information technology systems and services. This role is responsible for institution‑wide IT strategic planning, budgeting, governance, security, and the coordination and integration of all University IT matters. The CIO is a visionary leader, well‑versed in a variety of IT disciplines, and serves as the senior spokesperson on technology and data issues, supporting and aligning IT initiatives with the University’s mission and strategic objectives. The CIO is a member of the President’s executive cabinet.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area
A minimum of 8 years of related experience managing and supporting information technology operations including ERP and other enterprise business applications within a senior IT management position. Experience in higher education preferred; candidates from complex multi‑company or multi‑department organizations must demonstrate relevant experience.
Some travel may be necessary for training and professional development
Willingness to work outside of regularly scheduled hours as needed for system upgrades, outages, or emergencies.
