Casa de Salud is a 501(c)3 non-profit clinic providing a wide range of medical, integrative, social, and harm reduction-based services to residents in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, and the surrounding areas. *About the Role of the Medical Director*
The Medical Director provides strategic leadership and clinical oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across all Casa de Salud programs and services. This role oversees clinical standards, compliance, and performance improvement, while fostering an integrated approach between medical, behavioral, and community health services.
*Medical Director Responsibilities*
*Clinical Leadership & Oversight*
* Provide medical supervision and guidance to all clinical staff, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nursing personnel.
* Assist in developing and maintaining clinical policies, protocols, and quality standards that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
* Support the integration of preventive, primary care, and specialty services to promote comprehensive patient care.
*Strategic & Administrative Responsibilities*
* Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team to develop organizational goals, clinical initiatives, and strategic priorities.
* Participate in budget planning, resource allocation, and program development to support sustainable growth.
* Ensure alignment between clinical operations and Casa de Salud’s mission, values, and community impact goals.
* Represent the organization in partnerships with hospitals, public health agencies, and community stakeholders.
*Compliance, Risk Management & Quality*
* Ensure adherence to all applicable licensing, credentialing, and reporting requirements.
* Oversee infection control, patient safety, and risk management programs.
* Lead performance improvement initiatives and monitor key clinical metrics.
* Provide leadership during audits, accreditation surveys, and regulatory reviews.
*Education & Workforce Development*
* Mentor and support the professional development of clinical staff and trainees.
* Promote a culture of continuous learning, evidence-based care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
* Support community and workforce pipeline programs that prepare future healthcare professionals.
*Qualifications*
*Required:*
* Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Nurse Practitioner from an accredited institution.
* Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Mexico.
* Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
* Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, compliance, and patient safety standards.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
*Highly Preferred:*
* Experience in community health, primary care, or nonprofit healthcare settings.
* Familiarity with population health.
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency a plus.
