About this role: This onsite IT Systems Administrator position at Skydio’s HQ involves providing end-to-end technical support across Linux, Windows, and Mac systems, managing Okta and Workspace One, and supporting network operations alongside the network engineer. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, system automation, and infrastructure management using Terraform and scripting languages (Python, Bash). The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with strong technical and interpersonal skills, focused on optimizing processes, supporting colleagues, and maintaining a reliable IT environment.
Location This is an office-based position that requires 5 days/week onsite at Skydio HQ in San Mateo, CA. We offer relocation assistance if needed.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Linux, Windows, and Mac systems
Administer and manage Okta and Workspace One for user access, device management, and automation
Design and implement automation strategies using scripting languages (Python, Bash) to reduce manual intervention and improve efficiency
Use Terraform for infrastructure automation, managing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to streamline provisioning and system management
Provide support to our network engineer when needed, assisting with tasks like configuring switches, and wireless networks, and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Utilize network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, tcpdump) to diagnose and resolve network performance issues
Provide hands‑on support for hardware diagnostics, system provisioning, and patch management
Collaborate with the IT team and other departments to implement best practices and continuously improve workflows
Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures to maintain clear and thorough technical records
What makes you a good fit
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on technical experience, supporting Linux, Windows, and Mac environments
Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, are a plus
Expertise in Okta administration and identity management, including workflows and group management:
Single Sign‑On (SSO), Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA), and user provisioning
Proficiency in configuring and administering Okta Identity, including user lifecycle management, group management, and policy enforcement
Implementing and maintaining role‑based access control (RBAC) using Okta to manage user permissions
Knowledge of federation protocols such as SAML and OAuth, and the ability to implement federated identity solutions using Okta
Strong knowledge of Workspace One, including device management and automation
Expertise in scripting and automation using languages like Python or Bash to streamline system administration tasks and reduce repetitive manual work
Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management and automation
Knowledge of network infrastructure fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain network performance using advanced tools
Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on automation, efficiency, and a passion for continuous improvement in processes and infrastructure
Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with non‑technical staff and foster respect and professionalism across all levels
A proactive attitude toward identifying opportunities for system and process improvement, with a focus on automation
Compensation At Skydio, our compensation packages for full‑time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of options, comprehensive benefits, and various incentives and stipends. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $94,000 - $120,000 (dependent on final leveling).
