Description Leidos is seeking a talented Senior Firmware/FPGA Software Engineer to join the Space Division – Space Sensing & Security Branch in San Diego, CA. This role involves designing FPGA-based solutions for space-based products, working with a multidisciplinary team to create innovative hardware solutions for complex problems.
Job Overview This position is part of the Space Division’s engineering development team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, simulating, and integrating FPGA designs and space sensor systems, contributing to current and future space projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with electrical, systems engineers, and scientists to implement FPGA designs.
Analyze, design, simulate, and implement algorithms using HDL (VHDL, Verilog) based on MATLAB models.
Develop HDL test benches for code validation.
Review schematic diagrams for high-speed digital and analog circuitry.
Conduct tests on FPGA evaluation boards and develop specifications for next-generation components.
Develop test plans and support lab and field testing.
Create and maintain technical documentation.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 12-15 years of relevant experience.
Experience with FPGA system design, test, and embedded firmware development.
Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, HDL (VHDL, Verilog).
Understanding of high-speed serial interfaces (e.g., PCIe, DDR).
Experience with version control systems like SVN and Git.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Final DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Xilinx FPGA families, Zynq SoCs, and FPGA-optimized DSP algorithms.
Knowledge of internal interfaces like AXI4, AXI4-Stream.
Experience with embedded OS such as RTOS (Green Hills).
Master’s degree in Engineering.
Additional Details Posting Date: May 22, 2025
Pay Range: $126,100 - $227,950
