Position: Welder / Fitter (Full-Time)
Company: SPS West (Instrumentation) Inc.

Reports To: Shop Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager


Position Overview

SPS West is seeking a full-time Welder/Fitter to support in-house fabrication of industrial equipment and assemblies. This role is hands-on and production-focused, requiring strong TIG and MIG welding skills across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum . Journeyman certification is not required; demonstrated skill, reliability, and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable.



Key Responsibilities
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components

  • Fit, tack, and weld parts based on drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions

  • Fabricate small to medium-sized assemblies, frames, enclosures, and custom components

  • Maintain weld quality to internal standards (appearance, penetration, consistency)

  • Work collaboratively with shop leads, engineers, and other trades

  • Assist with general fabrication tasks as required (cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly)

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Follow shop safety procedures and quality expectations



Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong TIG and MIG welding experience (shop or industrial environment)

  • Proven ability to weld:

    • Carbon steel

    • Stainless steel

    • Aluminum

  • Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and measurements

  • Comfortable fitting parts before welding

  • Solid understanding of weld preparation, joint types, and distortion control

  • Reliable, punctual, and accountable



Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience with light structural fabrication or enclosures

  • Experience working with thin-gauge materials

  • Forklift or shop equipment experience

  • Pressure welding experience (not required)
