Position PurposeThe Catering & Event Service Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service across all Whistler Cooks–serviced catering events and venue-based events. This role leads front-of-house service execution, staff management, and onsite client interactions to ensure events are delivered to the highest operational and service standards.
Additionally, this position manages the Whistler Olympic Park Daylodge Café operations, providing consistent hospitality experiences during seasonal service and supporting the strong relationship between Whistler Cooks and Whistler Sport Legacies.
Key Responsibilities Event Service Leadership- Lead onsite service execution for all offsite catered events and events hosted at Whistler Cooks venues and for Whistler Cooks Clients at their venues.
- Oversee event setup, guest service delivery, bar service, and teardown, ensuring all details align with event scope and BEOs.
- Act as the primary onsite point of contact for clients, guests, and venue representatives.
- Provide service expertise and collaboration to the Catering Manager and Catering Operations Manager during event planning.
- Conduct pre-event briefings with staff to communicate service timelines, roles, and expectations.
- Monitor service standards and guest satisfaction, resolving issues in real time and escalating when necessary.
- Ensure health and safety, food-handling, and responsible alcohol service standards are adhered to at every event.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise front-of-house event staff and lead servers.
- Foster a service-focused culture reflective of Whistler Cooks values.
- Coach staff on event-specific service techniques, menu knowledge, and guest interaction standards.
- Participate in performance feedback and staff development to build a high-performing hospitality team.
- Manage full front-of-house operations for the Whistler Olympic Park Daylodge Café, including guest service, cash handling, staffing, and daily service delivery, when the venue is operational.
- Coordinate with Catering Manager and culinary leadership to ensure accurate menu production and timely replenishment.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and service presentation of the café and associated service areas.
- Ensure compliance with venue-specific policies, health regulations, and service requirements.
- Support seasonal opening/closing procedures and adjust staffing levels based on demand.
- Ensure equipment, linens, uniforms, and bar supplies are packed, transported, and returned according to operational standards.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to maintain accurate equipment counts and reduce loss/damage.
- Support post-event reconciliation processes including returns, inventory, and incident documentation.
- Maintain strong communication with the Catering Manager, Catering Operations Manager and sales team regarding resource needs and operational challenges.
- Participate in weekly operations meetings; report service performance, staffing needs, and upcoming event requirements.
- Work closely with the Catering Operations Manager to align staffing and scheduling with event demands.
- Communicate directly with the Catering Sales Manager and Catering Coordinator on client expectations and special requirements.
- Build positive relationships with venue partners, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- High School Graduate
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in hospitality, catering, or high-volume event environments required.
- Willing to relocate and provide own housing in Sea to Sky Corridor
- Catering and/or venue operations experience strongly preferred.
- Serving It Right certification required; FoodSafe Level 1 an asset.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to travel between venue/event locations.
- Strong leadership and service-focused attitude.
- Excellent guest relations and conflict-resolution capabilities.
- Able to manage multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and event flow.
- Professional communication skills with clients, guests, and internal teams.
- Ability to lift 35–70 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods during events.
- Knowledge of POS systems and cash-handling procedures.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work required during peak event seasons.
- Seasonal variability in venue café operations and event volume.
- Requires travel to various venues, warehouses, and client sites within the Sea to Sky Corridor.
- No option of hybrid work.
