This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Your role
As the Senior Advisor - Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity, Corporate Security and Crisis Management you will be responsible for developing and updating policies, standards, procedures and training associated with emergency preparedness, business continuity and corporate security and present them for discussion to the Emergency, Continuity & Security Team (ECST) prior to submission to senior management.

The function is also a permanent member of the National Crisis Management Team and acts as the coordinator to support CBC/Radio-Canada during a crisis response.

You will work in close collaboration with the operational and corporate functions and external vendors that have targeted accountabilities in emergency preparedness, business continuity and corporate security and related Health and Safety matters.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Advises the corporation as it relates to emergency preparedness, business continuity and corporate security in order to develop proactive programs to prevent incidents from occurring, and to be ready to react efficiently when an incident occurs.
  • Works with the departments and corporate support functions to develop recovery steps from key threats to the continuity of the operations, where appropriate tailoring the recovery steps to the relevant threat or risk.
  • Chairs the Emergency, Continuity & Security (ECST) team that addresses all related topics and ensures alignment of all groups towards corporate goals and objectives.
  • Supports operational representatives in the implementation of policies, procedures and standards.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with third party vendors to ensure emergency preparedness requirements are met.
  • Develops and provides regular status reports on emergency preparedness, business continuity, Corporate Security and maintains key performance indicators and dashboards on the level of preparedness of CBC/Radio-Canada.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and communication with the Privy Council Office Crisis Management Cell and coordinates responses on requests for emergency and security requests from Government of Canada.
  • Develops emergency preparedness, business continuity and corporate security training programs for CBC/Radio-Canada operations and special events and conducts regular exercises.
  • and simulations for corporate services including the National Crisis Management Team.
  • Conducts audits and assessments, (emergency preparedness, business continuity and security), and recommends appropriate corrective measures and action plans.
  • Develops and implements a security and emergency awareness program for employees.
  • Leads, supports and implements Health and Safety related projects including the development of training and supports the Advisors, Health and Safety in Montreal and Toronto.
  • Develops and maintains high risk deployment guidelines, training contracts with suppliers, standards, tools, and proposes appropriate security measures with the High Risk deployment managers.
  • Participates and provides updates to the national Policy Health and Safety Committee and local Health and Safety Committees.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar function is required.
  • Obtaining and maintaining a Business Continuity Professional certification. (asset).
  • Excellent knowledge of emergency preparedness, business continuity and corporate security and health and safety.
  • Extensive expertise in structuring, organizing, and managing complex information, and developing and leading training initiatives.
  • Superior problem solving and communication skills, able to clearly articulate issues and make recommendations to all levels of management Project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership.
  • Bilingual (French and English spoken and written).
  • Availability to travel on occasion.
