Position Title: HACCP Technician
Location: Edmonton, AB, T6B 3N9
Job Type: Full Time Permanent
Position Summary:
The HACCP Technician plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with food safety standards and supporting the company's HACCP program. This position involves monitoring processes, conducting inspections, and assisting with audits and training to maintain the highest level of food safety and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage employees in all food safety programs and initiatives.
- Monitor shipping, receiving, and product returns for compliance.
- Perform scale calibrations and maintain accuracy records.
- Conduct laboratory sampling and testing as required.
- Complete daily walkarounds to monitor production activities.
- Participate in product recall procedures when necessary.
- Assist with initial and ongoing employee food safety training.
- Inspect production equipment for cleanliness and functionality.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Review, verify, and file HACCP-related records.
- Assist with internal audits and corrective actions.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in food science preferred.
- HACCP training required or equivalent work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate effectively.
- Intermediate or higher computer proficiency (MS Office, especially Excel; internet; database systems).
- Analytical skills to interpret data and apply results.
- Solid decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work with raw meat products and in cold environments.
- Training will be provided.
- Commitment to safety standards and practices.
