POSITION OVERVIEW:
Selectpath Benefits & Financial Inc., a Navacord Broker Partner based in London, ON is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to a candidate who is detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. The Accounting Clerk will work closely with the Director of Finance as well as the Finance Team and plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization by performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks. This position involves accurately recording financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who possess strong organizational skills and have a foundational understanding of accounting principles. This role provides a valuable entry point into the world of finance and accounting, offering exposure to various aspects of financial operations within an organization. It serves as a stepping stone for individuals looking to build a career in accounting or related fields.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Entry and Recordkeeping:
- Input and update financial data into the accounting system.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
- Verify and reconcile discrepancies in financial documents.
Accounts Payable:
- Process invoices and expense reports.
- Prepare and issue payments to vendors.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send out invoices to clients.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Record and reconcile customer payments.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
Assist in Financial Reporting:
- Compile financial data for periodic reports.
- Prepare and distribute financial statements as needed.
Support Month-End and Year-End Closing:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Ensure all financial activities are accurately recorded before closing periods.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation to support financial transactions for audit purposes.
Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments to obtain necessary information.
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders as needed.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
- Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Community college diploma in Business Accounting required.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage conflicting demands from all areas of the business while ensuring accounting process' are kept in motion with a focus on providing accurate and complete results.
- Individual must be self-starter, goal oriented and a quick learner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
