About

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in heavy civil excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. Our team has a large project underway in Lunenburg, NS and expected to run through all of 2026. We are looking to hire qualified individuals that live within a reasonable commute to our jobsite to join our team for the duration of the project.

Requirements:

  • Some experience operating heavy equipment preferred, however we will consider individuals who have training with no experience on site.
  • Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator trade certification considered an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check equipment before operating to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency components are in good working order.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required.
  • Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
  • Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from crew members as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Operate equipment such as mobile radios and telephones to exchange necessary information to supervisors or other operators.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
  • Other duties as required
