SUMMARY

Doman Building Materials is an exciting place to work We are on a mission to create easy-to-use training materials for our employees and are looking for a Junior Instructional Designer to join our Human Resources team in Vancouver.

As a Junior Instructional Designer, you will put your writing skills, creative flair, and technical savvy to work. You'll collaborate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to transform their knowledge into engaging online training and supplementary learning materials.

As a member of a 14-person Human Resources department, you will be an integral part of the creation, development and management of our training content. If you have a knack for simplifying complex information and communicating effectively to diverse audiences, this role is for you

ABOUT YOU

You can build and maintain relationships with Managers and SMEs. You are confident in your skills to develop creative and engaging training content, translate technical documentation to user friendly language, and are comfortable with technology and digital platforms. You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and can swiftly address shifting priorities across multiple projects.

Requirements

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Support administration of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Follow style guides, brand guidelines, templates, and standards for format and style
  • Write outlines, learner profiles, scripts, and storyboards
  • Collaborate with SMEs and assist in research and analysis of learning needs
  • Develop engaging content in various media formats (graphics, video, audio, written, interactive)
  • Assist in creative and technical problem-solving and design ideation
  • Develop French-language content with assistance from a remote translator
  • Create campaigns via email and intranet to promote training opportunities
  • Record voiceovers and coordinate French voiceover requests
  • Support HR activities related to the employee training lifecycle as needed

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT ARE GOOD TO HAVE

  • Video production, animation, motion design, and video editing
  • Adobe creative Cloud suite, Articulate 360, Microsoft 365
  • Animation and motion design experience is an asset
  • Understanding of SCORM
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset

EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • The typical hiring range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
