Job Description: The Senior Data Engineer defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains data and data applications. This includes a comprehensive understanding of the business impact of data and software as well as the technical implications when choosing architectures and technologies. The Senior Data Engineer works as part of a team on a moderately complex product, project or feature domain. *This role will be Hybrid (2-days a week in office) if you are located within 50 miles of our Corporate Offices in either Mendota Heights, MN or Loveland, CO. In-person attendance is expected to foster collaboration, innovation, and team connection. Essential Functions: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in the conceptualization and development of database and/or application functionality. Assist in the research, definition, development, and documentation of deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with team members. Monitor, investigate and implement improvements to database design and performance. Integrate efficiency and performance during all development activities. Test new and existing applications for the purpose of correcting errors and general debugging. Participate in defining application and database development plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation. Deploy database changes through environments to production upon completion of development, testing, and documentation. Define and employ best practices for data engineering. Mentor/coach and conduct code reviews based on defined best practices. Provide data and software support for bugs, issues, and escalated incident tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues. Partner with others in resolving problems with software products or company data systems. Recommend new technologies, approaches, and best practices. Define and enforce best practices for data engineering and software development. Additional Functions: Participate in regulatory and compliance activities. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience 6+ years of application development or data science experience with increasingly complex projects. Comprehensive understanding of data, development and product life cycles Comprehensive understanding of data engineering and industry best practices Experience with data modeling, ETL frameworks, and distributed systems. Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Ability to conduct research into data and database-related issues and products Ability to conduct research into data-related issues for software products and systems Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of programming for different delivery approaches such as on-premises, web, cloud, and mobile Postgres (v12 or later) 2+ years Microsoft SQL Server Familiarity with SAP SQL Anywhere Windows operating system 2+ years Azure ecosystem 1+ years Azure DevOps (including Git) PowerShell or Batch Files C# Visual Studio/VS Code Working Environment: Office environment either in Patterson facility or at home/remote location Patterson Dental is committed to supporting a robust remote work culture, with well-established virtual collaboration practices and equal opportunities for career advancement and professional growth, regardless of physical location Ability to work remote and be on camera as needed Travel to corporate sites is periodically required (Quarterly or so) Periodic on call rotations and available outside of normal business hours on evenings and weekends during critical production release or issue escalation periods This role is eligible for hire in any of the following States: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, HI, ID, IL, KS, KY, ME, MA, MI, MN, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NY, OR, RI, SD, TX, UT, VT, WA, WV, WI The compensation range for this role is below. $100,000 - $120,000 We provide competitive benefits, unique incentive programs and rewards for our eligible employees: Full Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits and an integrated Wellness Program. 401(k) Match Retirement Savings Plan.
