Assistant Manager

With around thirty stores across Canada, DeSerres is the go-to destination for all creatives and the leading reference for purchasing art supplies.

We are looking for an assistant manager for our Ottawa location.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the store manager. You will support the team in customer service, human resources management, merchandising, and financial control.

Main Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning, organization, and management of all operations;
• Apply the company's business strategies to achieve the sales and profitability objectives;
• Be involved in the employee hiring process;
• Be responsible for new employee training, including customer service, product knowledge, sales, and merchandising;
• Be involved in employee performance evaluations;
• Through a constant presence on the sales floor, foster a positive work environment that encourages employee engagement;
• Maintain schedules and adhere to salary budgets;
• Effectively communicate information to both customers and employees;
• Perform and supervise in-store inventory management.

Qualifications :

• A minimum of 2 years of retail experience or equivalent experience;
• Strong customer focus;
• Leadership;
• Sales skills;
• Good organizational and time management skills;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Varied weekday, weekend, and evening hours.
