About
Job Summary
Payroll Administrator is responsible for leading and supporting payroll staff while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for the Division.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily guidance to payroll staff and train team members
- Ensure adherence to payroll policies and handle escalated inquiries
- Process regular/off-cycle payrolls and maintain accurate employee and benefit records
- Apply collective agreements, process salary/wage changes and ensure correct coding of earnings/deductions
- Prepare payroll remittances (Tax, CPP, EI, Pension, Union Dues) and reconcile payroll-related GL accounts
- Produce year-end documents (T4s) and required government statutory reports
- Administer benefits, liaise with providers and update payroll system
- Ensure compliance with legislation and support audits and reporting
Qualifications
- Payroll diploma or certificate
- Two (2) to Four (4) years payroll experience (unionized/public sector preferred)
- Strong payroll legislation and accounting knowledge: high accuracy and confidentiality
- Professional, positive attitude and the ability to handle sensitive information
- Skilled with payroll systems and Excel
- PREFERRED: CPA PCP certification (or in progress), CIMS experience, familiarity with education-sector payroll

Pay: $26.21-$28.77 per hour
