Role Overview

The successful candidate will be a General Claims Adjuster for the Technical Services Team and will be working in a hybrid set up in Mississauga, Ontario. They will be actively involved in evaluating multi-line claims with a focus on property (commercial and personal lines) claims through loss investigation, and be responsible for negotiating settlements in accordance with provincial licensing requirements, while maintaining adequate production levels and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes experts' reports
  • Selects and directs independent experts
  • Identifies and pursues subrogation opportunities
  • Secures and manages litigation disposition plans and budgets
  • Detailed recording of file activities and transactions in both Crawford and Company and client based systems
  • Maintains accurate expense accounts
  • Work with manager to maintain client relation
  • Ability to liaise and work with all facets of the insurance community including brokers, risk managers, legal counsel and regulators

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of functional and technical claims handling experience in large loss, commercial claims and liability
  • Ideal candidate will have a construction and property background specializing in project management, quantification and appraisal
  • Commercial policy interpretation and experience making recommendations to the market
  • Licensed or working towards CIP and/or FCIP designation
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Must be a team player with outstanding customer service skills
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with opportunity for career growth
