About the role

The candidate will support the Halifax Class Combat Systems Integration In Service Support (CSI ISS) program and will be called to work at CFB Stadacona in Halifax once the necessary security clearances have been granted by the government of Canada. They will function within a multi-disciplined team environment and perform engineering tasks spanning the complete life cycle of the systems from specification, design, development, integration & test, deployment, maintenance and field troubleshooting.

The candidate will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:

  • Act as the day to day steward of the IBM Rational Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) repository: create and modify requirement modules, apply attribute sets, run query based reports, and enforce version control best practices.
  • Capture the linkages between requirements, design, and test artifacts—maintaining full traceability from inception to product release.
  • Work with test, engineering, software and quality teams to refine DOORS workflows and templates, ensuring alignment with global release & compliance objectives.
  • Test Witnessing.
  • Test Plan/Test Sheet reviews.
  • Task /Preliminary/Detailed/Critical Design Reviews.
  • Walkthrough Design Reviews.
  • Supporting Test/Trials.
  • Performing requirements analysis.
  • Performing trade studies.
  • Defining and tracking of Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs)
  • System architecture and design
  • System integration planning
  • Design documentation
  • Following systems engineering processes and best practices.

What you bring to the role

  • Possess bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with five years of professional experience; or three years of professional experience with a related master's degree.
  • Significant experience in requirements definition/development/maintenance of a complex real-time naval tactical Command and Control Systems.
  • Proven experience with Software, Systems, Hardware or Maintenance engineering life-cycle.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable documentation
  • Strong grasp of requirements engineering fundamentals (traceability, impact analysis, change control).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Works well individually or in a team environment.
  • Ability to acquire NATO Secret Security clearance.

  • Knowledge of Redmine and Windchill
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management System (RMS)
  • Knowledge of Test Management System (TMS)
  • Knowledge of Technical Statement of Requirements (TSORs)
  • Knowledge of the Halifax Class Combat System Integration Performance Specification (CSIPS)
  • Experience with the Combat Management System (CMS) 330
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience in the Navy or Defence domains
  • Experience with Change Management, Test and Trials (T&T), Security, Safety, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) or Environmental Qualification.
