The Senior Manager Practice Review is responsible for conducting practice reviews, conducting consistency reviews of completed practice reviews, practice review program development, assisting with the development and assessment of contract practice reviewers and assisting the Director with meeting the Practice Review Mandate. This role reports to the Director, Practice Review.
CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week). Frequent travel within Alberta may be required during peak practice review times.

What you bring- CPA designation along with a minimum of 5 years post designation recent public accounting experience in an assurance practice
- The following number of hours, accumulated over any three of the last five years, either directly or through persons under your supervision:
- a total of 750 hours of audit experience (audit as defined in the CPA Act) and;
- a total of 1,500 hours of review experience (review as defined in the CPA Act)
- Strong working knowledge of the CPA Canada Handbooks (Assurance, Accounting and Public Sector)
- Experience with the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and application in a practical manner
- Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity
- Ability to deal with difficult situations and individuals with tact and diplomacy
- Lead and supervise practice review teams of other senior professional CPAs in conducting reviews of professional and ethical standards using the methodology and reporting approved by the Practice Review Committee.
- Communicate educational information including best practice standards and upcoming technical standards to assist members.
- Make recommendations regarding firm compliance with professional and ethical standards to the Practice Review Committee.
- Review practice review files submitted by contract reviewers prior to draft reports being submitted to firms and in preparation for Practice Review Committee meetings.
- Various technical duties as required including but not limited to; updating the practice review checklists and glossary and reviewer resource material; maintaining practice review tools; periodic attendance at Practice Review Committee meetings and training sessions.
- Assist in monitoring the implementation of National Harmonization Recommendations.
- Assist with preparation of training materials and other resources.
- Maintain leading-edge technical knowledge and ability to practically apply professional standards.
