Lean In Canada is hiring a part-time, contract Social Media and Marketing Assistant to help us amplify our voice, grow our national presence, and inspire women from coast to coast.

About the Role

This contract project based position is ideal for:

It is a chance to gain hands-on, portfolio-building experience while supporting a mission-driven organization. You will work closely with Lean In Canada's Director of Marketing and Communications to create engaging, purpose-driven content that resonates with our national audience, supports membership growth, and helps attract sponsorship.

This is a 12-month, virtual, contract position for mission driven individuals.

What You'll Do

  • Create, design, and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter
  • Design, develop, and schedule email marketing campaigns and newsletters that engage our community and promote events, programs, and campaigns
  • Collaborate on content ideas, visual assets, and copywriting across social, email, and website channels that engages our membership
  • Support promotion for events, programs, and national campaigns
  • Monitor community engagement and respond to comments and messages
  • Maintain brand consistency and a warm, inclusive tone across all channels
  • Help with monthly analytics insights and recommendations for both social media and email performance
  • Ad hoc requests may include: update website content, including editing pages, uploading and formatting blog posts, and ensuring links, images, and event information are current.
  • Attend monthly virtual check-in meetings with the team

What You Bring

  • Experience managing social media for a cause, campus group, organization, or small business
  • Strong writing and basic graphic design skills
  • A passion for nonprofits, gender equity, and uplifting women's voices
  • Familiarity with social tools (for example Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of AI tools and AI ethics
  • Reliability, creativity, and strong communication skills
  • Experience with video editing apps and graphic design tools is preferred
  • Comfort working with website or social media analytics is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Must be based in Canada (ideally in Toronto)

As this is a contract position, you will use your own laptop, phone, and design tools. You will have access to some of our marketing tools, including Canva. Contract & Compensation

This is a contract role for January–December 2026.

  • Hourly rate: $25 - $30/hour based on experience
  • Time commitment:
  • Minimum of 24 hours/month (Jan–Dec 2026) with hours varying based on projects and campaigns
  • An additional minimum of 120 hours between January and March 2026 to support our WAGE initiatives and International Women's Day campaign. More details will be provided during onboarding.
  • Increased availability will be required leading up to and during the International Women's Day campaign period.
