Service Writer

Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Service Writer to join our automotive service team. The Service Writer acts as the primary point of contact between customers and our service department, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for vehicle repairs and maintenance. This role requires strong communication skills, automotive knowledge, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. Prior dealership or mechanic experience is highly preferred to effectively communicate technical information and upsell services.

Duties

• Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival, establishing a positive rapport.
• Gather vehicle information, diagnose customer concerns, and accurately document service requests.
• Prepare detailed repair orders, including necessary parts and labor estimates.
• Communicate repair details clearly to customers, explaining services needed and available options.
• Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of work.
• Upsell additional services or maintenance based on customer needs and vehicle condition.
• Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently.
• Follow up with customers regarding vehicle status, additional repairs, or future service needs.
• Maintain organized records of all service transactions and customer interactions.

Skills

• Proven experience in an automotive dealership or repair shop environment is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and automotive systems.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Sales acumen with the ability to upsell services in a professional manner.
• Proficiency in cash handling and basic computer skills for recordkeeping.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
