Role Summary
As a Material Planner, you will be responsible for supply planning to ensure on time delivery of components to a just-in-time manufacturing environment, while driving optimal and accurate inventory and minimizing freight costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Track Material Status in SAP, utilizing the engineering system PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)
- Maintain department inventory objectives by maintaining safety stock levels, demand forecasts and inventory accuracy
- Ensure accurate issuance of production and service part releases to suppliers
- Analyzing inventory levels and following up to ensure timely delivery to support production lines
- Investigate and address root cause of inventory and supplier delivery issues
- Resolve supply issues through various carriers and customs brokers
- Interface with production and local third party warehouse to ensure processes are maintained and establish new ones as necessary
- Interface on material supply issues with Purchasing, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Scheduling and the Supply Base
- Maintain internal/external pull system
- Drive continuous improvement through root cause and corrective action (RCCA) analysis
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or a related field, or College Diploma
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, planning and logistics experience
Experience
- One or more of the following APICS Certifications: CPIM, CSCP and CLTD
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with an ability to identify risk, problem solve, effectively communicate and execute solutions
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management software and MRP/ERP systems (SAP an asset)
- Experience with creating visualizations in PowerBI, Tableau and/or other data visualization/analysis tools
- Experience with local and overseas suppliers is an asset
- Experience with Automotive and/ or Electronics Manufacturing is an asset
