Are you the one we're looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.
The Early Childhood Educator is working as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports children's emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. Wesley's Childcare Program Staff, care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.
This position is a unionized, Full-time, temporary position. The contract is from January 2, 2026 until April The rate of pay is $19.21 per hour; the rate of pay varies based on eligible wage top-ups available. Hours per week are 40.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
- Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education's pedagogy "How Does Learning Happen?" as well as the "Tools for Life" Program.
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
- Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
- Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
- Welcome, support and interact with all clients, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, newcomers to Canada, LGBTQ2S+, young parents, etc.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and their families.
- Experience working in a childcare program, with parents, and with community partners.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act
- Experience working with culturally diverse, newcomer, LGBTQ2S+, and young families
- Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
