Organization Information:
Le Westin Tremblant is a 124-guest-room condo-hotel operating under a strata ownership structure in the heart of Mont-Tremblant Resort. Each suite is individually owned as part of a strata corporation, while the property functions day-to-day as a full-service hotel through a rental pool and hotel management agreement.
About the Job:
The controller will be responsible for the professional financial management of the shared services and hotel operations by providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to ownership and corporate management.
The property relies on a shared services framework to manage operations in spaces and systems used by both owners and hotel guests. This model requires close coordination between the strata corporation, representing all unit owners, and the hotel operator, which manages hotel operations (guest services, housekeeping, front desk operations, and rental activity)
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a system of accounts and internal controls to ensure accurate, timely financial statements, and effective management of resort assets, revenues and expenses
- Oversee all rental pool accounting, including revenue tracking, expense allocations, monthly owner distributions, and preparation of owner statements.
- Administer and allocate shared service costs in accordance with agreements between the strata corporation and hotel operator
- Performs operational process reviews to ensure proper control systems are in place and associates are adhering to company policies and procedures
- Manage procurement function in the resort by developing and maintaining sound and accurate purchasing and receiving procedures with the General Manager
- Participate and contribute as a member of the resort Executive Team in developing policies and procedures in the hotel
- Perform & monitor all payroll duties as required
- Assist with property technology troubleshooting & project management
- Monitor, track & record all CAPEX related to the appropriate asset as per the company standards
- Prepare monthly forecasts and annual budgets in collaboration with the department heads
- Be a custodian for all contracts & commitments schedule & respond to any inquiries related to insurance needs
- Perform the month end reporting & commentary for the management company
- Coordinate year-end audit engagements with third party auditors
- Any other duties assigned by General Manager or Corporate Finance Team
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a similar position
- CPA designation (considered an asset)
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, VLOOKUP's, pivot tables)
- Knowledge of Full Accounting Cycle
- Excellent proficiency in both English and French
- Hospitality and/or Strata experience is preferred but not required
- Possess strong initiative and desire to pursue opportunities as they are identified
- Demonstrated ability to work through challenges above and beyond a standard job description
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly and objectively
- Ability to develop relationships at all levels from corporate colleagues to hotels and external partners
- Highly organized, able to manage time effectively and comfortable working with tight deadlines.
- High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with a growing and changing environment
