Simpson's Fence (London) Ltd is seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator. The successful candidate will have experience with construction estimating and technologies, along with good time-management and interpersonal skills. Experience with fencing would be a benefit as well. Full-time days (Mon-Fri). Main Duties:

  • Preparation of estimates ranging from $1 to 1 Mil for materials-supply OR installed fence projects consisting of chain link, ornamental iron, PVC and wood fence as requested by customers and general contractors across southwestern Ontario.
  • Review plans / specs / tenders
  • Perform project take-offs using various software tools (Adobe, CAD, etc)
  • Prepare detailed estimates
  • Solicit pricing from suppliers & subcontractors
  • Review details & requirements with senior stakeholders
  • Prepare bid submission documents
  • Develop & maintain estimating tools
  • Analyze data from past projects to improve accuracy and efficiency of future projects
  • Perform site visits to obtain and verify site details prior to bidding or prior to projects commencing
  • Perform pre-construction discussions with installers to verify project details, and communicate with installers throughout installation periods as needed
  • Communicate with customers regarding quoted projects throughout project lifecycle until successful completion
  • Be responsible and accountable for projects, tasks and timelines that are assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in construction project estimating
  • Familiar with blueprint reading / construction tenders / online plans rooms / construction associations
  • Advanced computer skills - Excel / Word / Outlook
  • Intermediate CAD skills an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent time management & organization skills
  • Able to build & maintain lasting relationships
  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Technologies or similar would be an asset but not mandatory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
