Job Title: Senior Scrum Master
100% Remote, Canada
Experience: 5+ Years

Role Summary

NearSource is looking for an experienced Senior Scrum Master to support two related development teams driving platform consistency, developer productivity, and cross-platform enablement. In this role, you will enable high-performing Agile delivery while partnering with distributed engineering and experience design teams. You will support continuous improvement and foster a transparent, collaborative, and outcome-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary Scrum Master for two related development teams while providing mentoring support to a junior Scrum Master on a third team
Coach engineering teams on Agile techniques to align team capacity with commitments
Collaborate with stakeholders to refine scope, establish priorities, and ensure successful feature delivery
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies and alignment across sprints and releases
Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, release planning, and retrospectives
Guide backlog refinement and estimation to ensure achievable, measurable commitments
Remove impediments and escalate issues when required to maintain delivery velocity
Shield teams from distractions to maintain focus and productivity
Foster a cooperative environment grounded in open discussion and problem solving
Ensure meeting artifacts are created and distributed to communicate progress
Lead or participate in improvement initiatives to strengthen alignment between Scrum teams and the broader organization

Must-Have Skills

5+ years as a Scrum Master supporting medium to large-scale software development teams
Experience serving as Scrum Master for two related development teams simultaneously
Experience removing impediments between development teams and experience design teams
Strong hands-on experience using JIRA for decision making and reporting
Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to resolve conflicts
Ability to manage expectations and execute effectively with distributed teams
Ability to coach at multiple levels including team members, product owners, and management
Solid understanding of Agile theories and practical application
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proactive mindset with ownership and self-sufficiency

Nice-to-Have Skills

CSM, SAFe, or equivalent Agile certification
Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
Familiarity with Design Systems
Experience using Figma, Confluence, and Slack
Familiarity with software testing tools and best practices such as Playwright and BrowserStack
