Birdsong is a two Michelin–starred restaurant in San Francisco, where Chef Chris Bleidorn's cooking explores heritage cuisine with heart, craft, and a deep sense of place.
Now we're looking for a Service Director who's ready to lead the floor with intention - someone who loves the details, sets the tone, and helps a dedicated team deliver a dining experience that feels both precise and deeply human.
The roleAs Service Director, you'll take ownership of front-of-house operations and the entire guest experience - from the first welcome to the final goodbye. This isn't a "keep the ship afloat" job. It's a leadership role with real influence: you'll help shape how service feels at Birdsong, develop the team, and build systems that make excellence repeatable—night after night. Expect high standards, a small team, close collaboration with the kitchen, and the chance to make meaningful improvements that guests actually feel.
You'll be responsible for:
Leading, scheduling, and developing the dining room team
Managing service flow and standards of quality, consistency, and efficiency
Overseeing the guest experience in every detail (pace, hospitality, recovery, follow-through)
Onboarding and training new team members
Maintenance and daily operational organization
Dining team operational accountability
Keeping communication seamless between the kitchen and dining room
You might be a fit if you:

Bring 2–3+ years of experience (fine dining preferred)
