About

Chef

E.O.'s Athletic Club
Durham, NC

E.O.'s Athletic Club is seeking a Chef to lead all food operations at our elevated sports bar concept in downtown Durham. This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who values consistency, systems, and culture as much as great food.

This position offers room to grow within UV Hospitality Group, a locally owned restaurant group with multiple concepts and a strong commitment to people, quality, and community.
Preferred experience with pizza dough production but not required.

What You'll Do
Kitchen Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, train, schedule, and develop the kitchen team

  • Ensure consistent execution and quality across all menu items

  • Maintain strong systems for cleanliness, organization, and health department compliance

  • Manage inventory, ordering, food cost, waste, and labor

  • Conduct monthly inventories and quarterly performance reviews

  • Work the line and expedite as needed

  • Interview, hire, coach, and mentor BOH staff

  • Maintain a current ServSafe Manager certification

Menu & Creative Development
  • Develop and refine dishes within the E.O.'s Athletic Club brand and mission

  • Assist with menu updates and seasonal changes

  • Collaborate on special events, pop-ups, and fundraisers when appropriate

  • Support planning and execution of buyouts and special events

Front-of-House Collaboration
  • Support FOH systems related to organization, cleanliness, and sidework

  • Assist with ordering FOH products and ABC pickups

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable ABC and health regulations

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture between BOH and FOH

Guest Engagement
  • Engage with guests regularly and monitor guest experience

  • Review online feedback and work with the team to address opportunities

  • Educate staff and guests on menu items and updates as needed

Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Chef-led, operator-supported: Work with owners who respect the craft, value systems, and expect high standards without micromanagement.

  • Clear concept, real execution: A focused menu and identity—great bar food done right—so you're not chasing trends.

  • Hands-on role with support: You'll be on the line, leading by example, backed by an established local restaurant group.

  • Growth potential: Opportunity to expand responsibilities across other UV Hospitality Group properties over time.

  • Community-minded: Involved in local events, collaborations, and fundraisers that actually matter.

Schedule & Expectations
  • Full-time position averaging ~50 hours per week

  • Chef is responsible for all dayparts and self-schedules accordingly

  • Participation in weekly management meetings is required

Compensation
  • Total compensation: $70,000-80,0000 annually, combining base salary and performance incentives

  • Growth opportunities within UV Hospitality Group

If this sounds like the right fit, we'd love to hear from you.
