Job Summary:

The Cook at Phoenix Society is responsible for preparing
meals and following established recipes. Key duties include preparing
ingredients, adhering to the menu, and following food health and safety
procedures. The position is required to cook, clean, assist other kitchen
staff, and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. The Cook ensures that menu
items are of high quality and distributed in a timely fashion. Also from time
to time able to work for sister sites and phoenix food truck as needed.

Responsibilites:

  • Set
    up, clean and organize work stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare
    ingredients for the day; wash, chop and season meat, vegetables, etc.
  • Prepare
    and cook menu items according to nutritional standards with other kitchen staff
  • Handle
    multiple food orders at one time
  • Deliver
    menu items to clients as required
  • Store
    and dispose of any food properly
  • Ensure
    sufficient stock and inventory of food, supplies and equipment
  • Sanitize
    and clean work stations and kitchen supplies
  • Comply
    with health and safety and sanitation standards
  • Ensure
    that food is distributed in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Perform
    other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High
    school diploma or equivalent
  • Red
    Seal certification is required
  • 1
    to 3 years of experience in preparing, cooking and delivering meals
  • Satisfactory completion
    of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
  • Satisfactory completion
    of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
  • Satisfactory completion
    of Employee Immunization Record form is required
  • First aid certification
    with CPR is required
  • Food
    Safe Level 1 is required

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Excellent
    knowledge of daily meal preparation
  • Strong
    organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong
    interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and
    verbally in English
  • Ability
    to follow all food health and safety regulations
  • Demonstrated commitment to the
    social sector with a passion for the organization's mission is essential
