Senior Mobile Backend Developer (Java / Kotlin, AWS, Microservices) – Contract We are hiring a Senior Mobile Backend Developer to work on high-scale, cloud-native platforms supporting mobile applications in a regulated environment. This is a hands-on backend role focused on Java/Kotlin microservices, secure API design, and cloud delivery. You will contribute across the full SDLC while influencing engineering standards, best practices, and technical quality. Key Responsibilities * Design and build scalable backend services using Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot * Develop secure, mobile-facing APIs using OAuth 2.0 and modern authentication patterns * Work with microservices and event-driven architectures * Deploy and support services in AWS / cloud environments * Apply TDD / BDD and automation testing to deliver high-quality code * Collaborate with engineers, technical leads, and stakeholders across delivery teams * Mentor peers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Required Skills & Experience * Strong backend development experience with Java and/or Kotlin * Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices architecture * Secure API design, OAuth, authentication/authorisation * AWS or cloud platform experience * Event-driven systems and distributed architectures * Experience working in financial services or regulated environments * Strong problem-solving and communication skills Contract Details * Contract role * Hybrid working * Competitive market rates If you are a senior backend engineer looking to work on cloud-first, mobile-enabled platforms with real technical ownership, apply now
