Novant Health is seeking a Sonographer I who will play an essential role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging. This position supports physicians by preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and producing accurate diagnostic images that guide clinical decisions.


What You’ll Do
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and ensure comfort, safety, and clear communication throughout the exam.

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound scans using established protocols while optimizing technical factors for accuracy and patient safety.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

  • Modify care appropriately based on patient age, condition, and abilities.

  • Receive, interpret, document, and verify electronic, written, and verbal orders.

  • Evaluate images for quality, proper labeling, and accurate patient identification.

  • Ensure timely transfer of images and relevant clinical information to interpreting providers.

  • Identify, prepare, and administer contrast media or medications as prescribed; perform venipuncture when required.

  • Utilize EMR, RIS, and PACS systems efficiently and accurately.


Qualifications Education
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiography or Sonography Program; or a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography Program — Required

  • Associate Degree — Preferred

Experience
  • 1 year of sonography experience — Preferred

  • Must meet Life Support Training requirements per policy NH-HR-3096.

Licensure / Certification

Varies by location; all routes require certification and registration in Sonography (ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS):

  • Medical Center: RT(S) or ARDMS certification required within 6 months of hire

  • IDTF / Hospital Outpatient: RT(S) or ARDMS — Required

  • Medical Group Office: RT(S) or ARDMS — Required
