We are seeking a diligent and motivated Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient movement and organization of goods within our warehouse. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving, storing, and dispatching materials. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for operating various equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to transport inventory. Meticulous attention to detail is essential for maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring that all items are properly identified and stored.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and report any discrepancies.
- Store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper inventory management and stock rotation.
- Pick and prepare orders for shipment, accurately assembling items based on order specifications.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Load and unload trucks as needed, ensuring the integrity of the goods.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
- Perform pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the logistics operation.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics setting is preferred. Must be able to perform physical tasks, including frequent Lifting of up to 50 pounds. A commitment to Safety is paramount. Strong communication and teamwork skills are beneficial. Must be at least 18 years old. This role is physically demanding and requires the ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
