About
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Material Handler to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth movement and organization of materials within our warehouse and manufacturing facilities. The Material Handler will be responsible for operating material handling equipment, transporting raw materials and finished goods, and maintaining inventory accuracy. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe lifting techniques, as we handle a variety of materials and operate machinery. You will work closely with production, logistics, and inventory control teams to ensure that materials are available when and where needed. The ideal candidate is physically fit, possesses good organizational skills, and has experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment. This role is vital to our overall operational efficiency and supply chain effectiveness. We encourage a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating any potential safety hazards.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods between different areas of the facility.
- Load and unload trucks and containers.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately tracking material movements.
- Ensure that materials are stored in the correct locations and organized properly.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any maintenance issues.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet production and logistics schedules.
- Perform manual lifting of materials as required, adhering to safe lifting practices.
- Assist with receiving and shipping duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operator certification is highly preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety procedures and the use of PPE.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks involving frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Must be reliable and able to work flexible hours if needed.
