We have an immediate opening for a skilled Material Handler in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position is crucial for the efficient movement and management of materials within our facility. You will be responsible for receiving, stocking, and distributing raw materials, components, and finished goods. A strong understanding of warehouse operations, Safety protocols, and material handling equipment is essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, identify, and stage incoming materials and supplies for production and distribution.
- Transport materials throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other relevant equipment.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely, ensuring goods are handled with care.
- Perform inventory counts, verify stock levels, and assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Organize and maintain storage areas to ensure efficient access and flow of materials.
- Adhere strictly to all company Safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Follow all established procedures for material handling and logistics.
- Identify and report any damaged materials, equipment issues, or potential Safety hazards.
- Assist with the packaging and preparation of outgoing shipments.
- Operate material handling equipment in a safe and proficient manner, maintaining necessary certifications.
- Participate in general warehouse upkeep and cleaning to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Support production by ensuring timely delivery of necessary materials.
- Be prepared for regular physical tasks, including significant Lifting and movement of goods.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in material handling processes.
- Accurate documentation of material movements is required.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in material handling, including operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment. Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform frequent Lifting are required. A proactive approach to Safety and a meticulous attention to detail are essential. Familiarity with warehouse management systems and logistics principles is a plus. This role is vital to our supply chain and demands reliability and efficiency.
