Our Des Moines, Iowa distribution center is seeking a skilled Warehouse Technician to ensure the optimal functioning of our facility and equipment. This critical role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and ensuring the overall safety and efficiency of our logistics operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a deep commitment to workplace safety. You will be responsible for keeping our warehouse running smoothly, supporting all aspects of our supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and preventative repairs on warehouse machinery, conveyor systems, and racking.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and structural issues.
- Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Operate warehouse equipment and assist with material handling as needed.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies for maintenance operations.
- Ensure proper use and upkeep of all equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE, and promote a safety-first culture.
- Assist with loading and unloading operations, involving moderate to heavy lifting.
- Document all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs accurately.
- Support our logistics operations by minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment availability.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Warehouse Technician, maintenance mechanic, or in a related field is required. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems. Knowledge of warehouse operations and equipment. Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting and working at heights. A thorough understanding of safety procedures and the importance of PPE is crucial for this logistics role.
