Ruth and Naomi's Mission has been serving the Chilliwack community for over 20 years. From handing out sandwiches to those in need, we've grown to three locations with over 100 staff providing shelter, recovery, and support programs 24/7. Each day, we serve over 500 meals, offer shelter for 200+ people, and support individuals in our bed-based recovery programs.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized Bookkeeper to support our Finance team. This role is primarily focused on accounts payable and other finance tasks as assigned, ensuring accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day financial operations. The Bookkeeper will work 20 hours per week in our office and play a key part in supporting our mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, verify, and reconcile accounts payable and related transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, both digital and physical.
  • Prepare bank deposits and assist with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Support payroll and employee expense claim tracking in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and year-end audit preparation.
  • Respond professionally to vendor and internal finance inquiries.
  • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity in handling financial and personnel information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a non-profit or multi-department organization.
  • Experience with accounting software (Sage, payworks) and donor management software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Discretion, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Wages of $25-27/hour
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Schedule: 20 hours per week, in-office. Flexible scheduling available Monday–Friday; occasional additional hours may be required during month-end or year-end reporting.
