Position Title:    PATIENT TRAVEL CLERK

Reports to: Manager, Clinical Health

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Health, the Patient Travel Clerk is responsible for arranging timely transportation, accommodation, and meals for patients who require traveling to medical appointments and treatment outside their local area, ensuring all travel logistics are efficiently managed and patient travel activities are accurately documented.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verify eligibility for travel expenses in accordance with FNHA and the Haisla Nation Council's program guidelines.
  • Arrange travel for patients, including booking transportation and accommodation.
  • Ensure patients have all necessary travel documentation, such as travel authorizations, medical appointment letters, and identification.
  • Accurately record and maintain patient travel information, including itineraries and expenses for approval.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with privacy regulations.
  • Assist patients and their families with travel inquiries, providing information on available services, eligibility criteria, and travel procedures.
  • Prepare regular reports on patient travel activities, expenses, and outcomes on MIS for program evaluation and improvement to FNHA and HNC.
  • Monitor budget allocations for patient travel and report any discrepancies to the Manager, Clinical Health.
  • Liaise with healthcare providers, government agencies, and other relevant organizations to facilitate patient travel.
  • Other related duties as required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in bookkeeping, administration, travel coordination or healthcare services an asset.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient with a strong commitment to supporting the well-being of community members.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of First Nation traditions, values, and community dynamics.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information and discretion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and various databases, search engines and outlook/email.
  • Valid BC driver's license and own vehicle is an asset.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).

Salary Range: $30.35/hr /hr
